Application for Training Program

Guidelines for Applicants

Colorectal Surgical Training in Australia and New Zealand is provided through the Post Fellowship Training Programme.

This Programme is administered by the Training Board in Colon and Rectal Surgery (TBCRS) and is a 2 year programme.

The philosophy of the training programme has been to foster the development of colon and rectal surgery as a specialty. There is no question that this has been achieved.  After successful completion of the Australasian general surgery training and being accorded the FRACS, the Fellow will undertake a further two years in colorectal training in an approved colorectal centre.  One of these years may be undertaken in a pre-approved overseas post or in a pre approved colorectal research post.

In addition, it is the aim of the Training Programme that successful trainees will practice in the field of colon and rectal surgery and that the principal referee, when nominated (see below), will act as a mentor, in both assisting in the organisation of training and importantly, in assisting the trainee to establish themselves in their future career within colon and rectal surgery.

Applications for the 2010 Program have closed.
