The Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ) has determined that a bi-national colorectal cancer database should be established so that data can be collected by its members and other surgeons. This information will be used for clinical audit of the surgical practices of members for the purpose of quality assurance. It is envisaged that there will be regular annual reporting and feedback to members with identification of benchmarks, peer review and development of multicentre research projects.
